Free State Beekeepers Association has a meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of every month
starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building in Double Springs.
You don’t have to have bees or even get bees,
but you can if you want to!
This is for anyone wanting to be a part of an association that wants to learn about honey bees,
interested in keeping honey bees or just looking for something interesting to do
on the 2nd Tuesday of every month!!!

All Winston County Schools Virtual
Due to increasing numbers of students/staff who are either COVID positive, experiencing symptoms, or exposed, we have made the decision for all Haleyville City Schools to be Virtual Thursday, January 20th-Friday, January 21st. We feel it is important for us to attempt to stop any further spread in HCS by taking time to deep clean and disinfect our buildings over the next few days.
All students will be given devices (if needed) and any assignments they need today so that they can learn over the next 2 days from home. If you experience any trouble with online learning, your teachers will be on campus. You can call your student’s school, and teachers will get back with you as soon as possible.HHS has a home basketball game vs. Jasper Thursday night. Only immediate family members are encouraged to attend these games. Masks are REQUIRED and temperatures will be taken at the door.As always, student safety is our top priority. Please Share! #HCSSLIAll other Winston County Schools will be virtual on Thursday and Friday also. -

Haleyville Apartment Fire
Saturday, January 15, the Haleyville Fire Department was dispatched at 3:30am to the Greenleaf Apartment complex, located off of Highway 195.
Although seven families have been displaced by this event, there was no loss of life. Fire, smoke, and water damages were apparent in two of the apartments. The damages were kept to a minimum, considering the time of day, thanks to the swift and effective response of the Haleyville Fire Department.
According to Facebook resources, efforts have been made to collect clothing and other necessities, for those affected by the fire. -

Bennett Recognized for Service
At the January 5th City Council meeting, Jonathan Bennett was recognized and commended for his thirteen years of service as a Councilman for the City of Haleyville. Although retiring his position, Jonathan continues his contributions and service to our community as a Board Member of the Health Care Authority of Haleyville and Winston County, and as an local entrepreneur, creating employment opportunities and quality products.

Milk and Bread
This is a repost from February 2011:
For many years, whenever snow has been forecast for Haleyville, many people, particularly the older citizens, rushed to the super markets to buy milk and bread. Young people, “Yankees” and other well-meaning folks laughed at us grey-haired “fools.” I do not even drink milk, but I bought a gallon anyway just before the last snow storm a couple of weeks ago. Five inches stopped traffic and kept kids out of schools for five days.
The reason for this unique phenomenon of disappearing milk and bread from the grocery shelves goes back to 1958. The following account is based on a real life experience. Continue reading

ORDINANCE NO. 2022-01 Series 2020-A Bond Proceeds Agreement
ORDINANCE NO. 2022-01
AN ORDINANCE TO APPROVE A SERIES 2020-A BOND PROCEEDS AGREEMENT AMONG THE HEALTHCARE AUTHORITY OF HALEYVILLE AND WINSTON COUNTY, ALABAMA, WINSTON COUNTY, ALABAMA, AND THE CITY OF HALEYVILLE, ALABAMA
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Haleyville, Alabama (the “City Council”), as governing body of the City of Haleyville, Alabama (the “City”), that the City, having reviewed the Series 2020-A Bond Proceeds Agreement (the “Agreement”), by the City and The Health Care Authority of Haleyville and Winston County, Alabama (the “Authority”), and Winston County, Alabama, as presented to the City, hereby: (a) approves, authorizes and confirms the representations of fact, agreements and obligations of the City in, and the terms and provisions of, the Agreement; (b) authorizes and directs the officers of the City to (i) execute, under seal, and deliver the Agreement in form and of content as presented to the City with such changes (by addition or deletion) as shall not create an additional, or extend or increase any present, obligation of the City under the Agreement and as such officers shall approve by execution and delivery thereof, and (ii) take such action, and execute and deliver such certificates and documents, at such times and in such form and manner, as shall be required by applicable law, legal counsel to the City, or otherwise necessary, to establish the validity, or effect the purposes, of the Agreement; (c) repeal the provisions of any resolution, order, or ordinance of the City to the extent any thereof are inconsistent or in conflict with the terms and purposes of this Resolution; and (d) provide this Resolution is effective immediately.
After said Ordinance had been discussed and considered in full by the Council, it was moved by Councilmember _____________ that the Ordinance be now placed upon its final passage and adopted. The motion was seconded by Councilmember _____________. The question being put as to the adoption of said motion and the final passage and adoption of the Ordinance, the roll was called with the following results:

City Council Meeting
The Haleyville City Council met Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
The following Resolutions and Ordinance, were discussed, voted on, and approved:

- RESOLUTION #2022-02 Industrial Access Road Improvement
- RESOLUTION # 2022-3 Opioid Settlement
- ORDINANCE NO. 2022-01 Series 2020-A Bond Proceeds Agreement
Investigator Collins, Investigator for the Haleyville Police Department, informed the Council of a January 25th Community Watch meeting at 6:00pm in the courtroom at City Hall. Anyone interested in participating, or possibly heading up a Community Watch in your own neighborhood, please feel free to attend.
