Aside from the heat of the fire, the temperature was 95 with a heat index even higher. The building was a total loss. Firemen used some of their water on another house close by.

Later in the evening on Monday, around 9 p.m., the Delmar Fire Department responded to an unoccupied house fire on County Road 28, just south of Haleyville.
