The Haleyville Fire Department responded to a house fire at 2915 11th Avenue (Kelly Hill) at 3:31 am on Monday, January 3. The fire was reported to 9-1-1 by Misty Evans Batchelor who lives across the street. She had been awakened by her young son and saw flames coming from her brother’s house.  Misty’s husband went over to the burning house and tried to see anyone through the windows to no avail. An explosion drove him away from the fire as firemen started arriving on the scene. Continue reading

Today starts with a layer of white covering our area.  According to local resources, the roads are drivable this morning, with 195 and 13 having been salted. Remember, bridges and overpasses ice over before anything else, so use extreme caution while driving.

Students return to Haleyville City Schools on January 10th.
