2013 in Review

Part of growing up in a small community is knowing the community leaders and them knowing you. Those leaders typically make impacts on countless lives and serve as pillars of the community for many years.  

Ed Franks served the Town of Bear Creek since 1981, but he announced and entered his retirement in 2013. Although his retirement was bittersweet, the Bear Creek Town Council made a speedy and great selection for his replacement.  Shane Whitten was sworn into office November 1, 2013. Congratulations again to Franks on the retirement and Whitten as the new Bear Creek Police Chief.

The next 2013 highlight brings about a much different view. The Haleyville Country Club has served many Haleyville residents and guests to the city for many years. Countless parties, receptions, and other gatherings were held at the Country Club for many years, which created cherished memories for so many.  However, the clubhouse recently met a fiery end.
