Fire Destroys Country Club Clubhouse

A 4 a.m. Saturday morning fire destroyed the clubhouse at the Haleyville Country Club. Haleyville and Pebble fireman battled the blaze into the daylight hours, but the structure was a total loss along with several golf carts parked next to the building. The facility had been used as the main clubhouse ever since the double wide used previously was moved from the premises. The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation. 

A Pebble fireman, Larry Valentine suffered a cut to his head and other possible injuries on his way to the fire when his pickup left the road in a sharp curve on rain slick pavement and stopped abruptly in a ditch. He was transported by ambulance to Lakeland ER.
