Haleyville City Council

The Haleyville City Council met Monday with all members present and approved the general operation bills and POs for October in the amount of $335,009.66. Approval was made to apply for a rebuild Alabama Grant for the purpose of funding of roadway resurfacing improvements. Approval was made to purchase a field groomer for the Haleyville Park and Rec Department.

Discussed at length, and then tabled was the purchase of a new fire truck to replace 36 year-old pumper #3. The Council wanted time to decide whether to purchase a new truck for $282, 936.98, or try to find a better price and the discover the problems other fire departments have had with their new trucks.

The Council approved the purchase of 9 new computers, windows upgrades for 10 computers and a wireless upgrade for City Hall in the amount of $14,883.00.

The resignation of Court Clerk Starla Watts was accepted along with the approval of Caroline Thompson to move to the Court Clerk Position with a pay adjustment. The City will be advertising for an Accounts payable Clerk and a part-time dispatcher for the Police Department.

The next regular scheduled Haleyville City Council meeting will be on Monday, December 2, 5:30 at City Hall.
