Haleyville City Council Meeting

The Haleyville City Council met on Monday, August 15, 2022.  Up for approval were the General Operating Bills and Purchase Orders for July, 2022, totaling $582.284.66, as well as the following Resolution for the Annual Gas Tax Plan.

RESOLUTION #2022-40

WHEREAS, the 2019 Alabama Legislature has passed an HB2 to levy additional excise tax on gasoline and diesel fuel, and

WHEREAS, the City of Haleyville, Alabama is to receive a portion of said tax, and

WHEREAS, the City of Haleyville, Alabama pledges to keep this money in separate fund and expend only for maintenance, improvement, replacement, and construction of roads and as mandated by the Law passed, and 

WHEREAS, the City of Haleyville, Alabama is to adopt an annual Transportation Plan, no later than August 31, for the next fiscal year, based on an estimate of revenues and will follow this Plan unless there are unforeseen problems at which time the Plan will be revised and submitted to the Council for approval.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Haleyville, that the City of Haleyville, Alabama intends to submit an application to the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) for funding through the 2023 Rebuild Alabama Act Annual Grant Program (RAAAGP) for resurfacing streets such as 14th Avenue, 15th Avenue, and Alabama Avenue in the amount of $300,000. The selection criteria will be based on safety and street usage

Also, be it resolved that the City of Haleyville will utilize local or other funding to make drainage and street improvements, as funds are available, to the streets below at the listed estimated costs, which include engineering and construction:

  • 8th Street ($80,000.00)
  • Beech Grove Road ($164,600.00)
  • Hill Top – Hickory Avenue and Oak Street ($88,200.00)
