The Haleyville City Council met tonight, with all members present, with Boo Brooks attending by phone.  There was discussion, and approval, of a new truck for the Parks and Recreation Director, replacement of the concession stand roof at the lower fields ($2,000), and the appointment of Brian Berry to the Planning and Zoning Board for a term ending in 2025.

Miss Valerie made a statement concerning the Salvation Army Bell Ringers, informing that they would be ringing from November 25th until December 24th. Volunteers are always greatly appreciated, and three members stated that they would donate some of their time.

It was also noted that the paving of our streets is a State Project, and while the City petitioned to have our roads improved, they have no jurisdiction in this matter.

Nothing but praise for the Trick or Treat drive-thru at City Hall, where fun was had by all, and looking forward to the Christmas in the City on December 3rd.

The following Resolutions were also approved:

RESOLUTION #2022-48

WHEREAS sealed bids for the construction of 2022 Fall Paving Project, Contract A: Street Resurfacing and Contract B: Miscellaneous Paving, were received and opened on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., by Calvin Cassady, P.E., at Haleyville City Hall. Bids received are summarized below:

WHEREAS, the Project Engineer, Calvin Cassady, P.E., has reviewed the bids received and recommends that both Contracts A and B of this project be awarded to Central Alabama Asphalt & Construction Company, LLC for their respective Base Bids of $478,984.00 for Contract A: Street Resurfacing and $61,024.00 for Contract B: Miscellaneous Paving.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Haleyville, that Mayor Ken Sunseri is hereby authorized to execute the Notice of Award to award this project to Central Alabama Asphalt & Construction Company, LLC to construct the 2022 Fall Paving Project, Contract A: Street Resurfacing and Contract B: Miscellaneous Paving.

RESOLUTION #2022-49

WHEREAS, the City Council of Haleyville has decided that City employees should be compensated by a one-time salary supplement during the month of December to reward longevity in the work place.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that all regular part-time City employees shall receive a one-time salary supplement of $50.00 to be paid in the month of December 2022.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of Haleyville, Alabama, that all full-time regular City employees shall receive a one-time salary supplement of $75.00 and that any full-time regular employee that has been employed more than one year after December 1^st shall receive $10.00 for each year of continued employment to be paid in the month of December 2022 as an incentive for faithful long-term employment and to show the City’s appreciation toward it’s employee’s.
