• President’s Day Monday

    Monday, February 19 is Washington’s birthday or President’s Day. Schools, banks, and government offices will be closed. The Haleyville City Council meeting which would normally be held Monday has been rescheduled for Tuesday at 5:30 at the Haleyville City Hall.

    Haleyville Street & Sanitation will be closed Monday also. Monday’s route will be picked up on Tuesday, along with Tuesday’s route.

  • Phillips High She Bears’s Advance to Regional

    The Phillips High School ‘She Bears’ Basketball Team defeated the Meek Lady Tigers Monday night 75 – 32 to advance to the Regional Semifinals at Wallace State Hanceville.  The She Bears will play the R.A. Hubbard Lady Chiefs on Friday, February 16th At 3:00 PM.

    The Phillips She-Bears record this season stands at 26 – 3. They are the Northwest Conference Champions, Marion County Champions, Area 13 and Sub-regional Champions, as well as being continually ranked #2 in the State 1-A category by the Alabama Sportswriters Association.

  • Lions Home Game Tonight

    The HHS Boys basketball team will play tonight at home against West Limestone at 7 p.m. The winner of the game tonight will advance to the regional finals at Wallace State at Hanceville. Tonight’s game can be heard on Paradise 92.7 with David Albright and Craig Wakefield.

    The Haleyville High Girls Basketball team was defeated by Priceville Monday night 77-47 to end their season.

    2018 Haleyville High School’s Leo’s Loveliest Beauty Walk

    The Annual Haleyville High School Leo’s Loveliest Pageant will be Friday, March 2 for Junior Division and Saturday, March 3 for Senior Division.  The pageant will begin at 7:30 each night.

    Leo’s reserved tickets for Jr. and Sr. contestants only will be on sale Tuesday, February 13, and Wednesday, Feb 14.   Tickets for Jr. Division contestants will be sold at the Middle School and Sr. Division contestants will be sold at the Center of Technology Office. Tuesday ticket sales will begin at 7:15 a.m.  On Thursday, February 15, reserved tickets for escorts will be available. Reserved tickets will be available to the public on Friday, February 16th. Reserved tickets are $8.00 each and general admission is $5.00. 

    Anyone needing special accommodation seating please call the Haleyville Center of Technology office at 486-9481. 

  • HHS Lions Win

    The Haleyville Lions defeated Fayette 52-43 Friday night to become the Area 11 champions. The next game is Tuesday night at home against West Limestone. The winner of that sub-regional game will advance to the Regional playoffs in Hanceville at Wallace State.

    Monday night, the Lady Lions will play Priceville at Priceville.

  • 9-1-1 Headliner

    Friday night, June 1, the headliner for the 9-1-1 concert downtown, Craig Morgan was announced by Brandon Norris for the 9-1-1 Festival. Other acts for the show will be posted here in the coming days. Make plans to attend and bring a friend.

  • Fire at Galley Restaurant

    A fire in the ceiling above the Galley Restaurant kitchen caused considerable damage, but the structure was saved with prompt action by the Haleyville Fire Department with help from the Delmar, Bear Creek, and Craft Fire Departments. The exact cause of the fire is unknown, however, a fire in the same area of the building several months ago was classified as an electrical fire.

  • HHS Basketball

    The Haleyville Lions Boys Basketball team defeated Hamilton Tuesday night and will advance to the area championship game Friday against Fayette at 7 PM. That game can be heard on Paradise 92.7 with David Albright and Craig Wakefield.

    The Haleyville Lions Girls Basketball team lost to Winfield Wednesday 56-38 in the Area Championship Tournament in Winfield. As a runner-up, Haleyville will still advance to the Regional Tournament.

  • Daryl Burt to be Sworn in as Circuit Judge

    Jimmy Daryl Burt will be sworn in as Circuit Judge for Winston and Marion Counties on Tuesday, February 13, 2:30 p.m. in the second-floor courtroom of the Marion County Courthouse.

    Daryl Burt was appointed by Governor Kay Ivey on February 1 to fill the position of retiring Judge John Bentley as Circuit Judge. He will serve until January 2021. In order to remain as judge, he will have to run and win an election in 2020. Burt has been a practicing attorney with the firm Atkinson, Atkinson, and Burt, LLC in Winfield.
