Haleyville City Council

The Haleyville City Council met Monday, December 5 for their regular bi-monthly meeting with all members present.

The Council approved a change order to the f2022 Fall paving.  See Resolution 22-50 below.

The annexation of Water and Sewer Board Property in South Haleyville into the city limits. See Ordanace 2022-03 below.

Dr. Reddy was reappointed to the Healthcare Authority.

Bobby Taylor was appointed to the Haleyville Water & Sewer Board.

Approval was made for the donation to the Winston County Arts Board for the purchase of Looney’s Tavern.

Approval was made to purchase a drone for the Police and Fire Departments at a cost of $10,481.00 and an addition $999 for training.

The next scheduled meeting of the Haleyville City Council will be Monday, December 19.

RESOLUTION #2022-50

WHEREAS the City of Haleyville is currently working on the construction of the 2022 Fall Paving Project, Contract A: Street Resurfacing, in Haleyville, Alabama, AND

WHEREAS the City Engineer requested that the Contractor add streets to be resurfaced as part of the existing project. These areas include the resurfacing of Cole Road (1,180’ x 12’) and Thomas Lane (340’ x 12’). The work added in Change Order No. 1 amounts to an increase of $32,784.00 for resurfacing. Refer to the attached Summary of Change Order No. 1.

WHEREAS, the Project Engineer, Calvin Cassady, P.E. of The Cassady Company, Inc., has reviewed and approved Change Order No. 1.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Haleyville, that Mayor Ken Sunseri is hereby authorized to execute Change Order No. 1 (attached hereto and made a part of this Resolution) approving the additional resurfacing of areas described above.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HALEYVILLE, ALABAMA, AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I. The said Mayor and City Council hereby find and declare that Haleyville Water Works and Sewer Board, have filed with it, as the governing body of the City of Haleyville, a petition for the annexation of property owned Haleyville Water Works and Sewer Board in Marion County, Alabama, a true and correct copy of said petition, which is set forth below:

That the undersigned entity is the owner of the property of the hereinafter described property located in Marion County, Alabama, which property is contiguous to the corporate limits of the City of Haleyville and hereby petitions the City of Haleyville under the provisions of Section 11-42-21, Code of Alabama, 1975, that the hereinafter described property be annexed to the City of Haleyville, thereby causing the municipality’s corporate limits to be extended and re-arranged so as to embrace and include such property within the corporate limits of the City of Haleyville:

The undersigned attach hereto as Exhibit “A” a map of the territory showing its relationship to the corporate limits to the City of Haleyville to which said property is proposed to be correctly included and hereby certify that they are the owners of the hereinafter described property as defined in Section 11-42-20, Code of Alabama, 1975 as amended.

SECTION II. The said Mayor and City Council hereby grant said petition for annexation of the property described in said petition filed by Haleyville Water Works and Sewer Board hereby consent to the proposed annexation and orders that the corporate limits of the City of Haleyville, Alabama, shall be extended and re-arranged so as to embrace and include said property described in the petition as a part of the corporate limits of the City of Haleyville to become effective upon the date of publication of said ordinance.

It is further ordered that upon publication of said ordinance, the Clerk of the City of Haleyville shall file a description of the property to be annexed in the Office of the Judge of Probate of Winston County, Alabama.
