The Haleyville City Council met Monday with all members present. After approving the minutes of the last meeting on April 17, the Council approved an ordinance to exempt certain “covered items” from the municipal sales and use tax during the “Back-To-School Sales Tax Holiday” as authorized in the Code of Alabama. The “Back-To-School Sales Tax Holiday will be the third full weekend of July beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 21 and ending at twelve midnight on Sunday, July 23.

Mayor Sunseri announced the hiring of Brian Vickery as a patrolman at $11.55 per hour. Vickery was previously with the Russellville Police Department.

The next meeting of the Haleyville City Council will be Monday, May 15 at the City Hall.
