Haleyville City Council

The Haleyville City Council met Monday afternoon with all members present and approved the general operation bills and purchase orders in the amount of $414,784.17. Also approved was the authorizing of The Northwest Alabama Council of Local governments, (NACOLG) to administer a CDBG Large City grant for water, sewer and street improvements within Haleyville. The administration fee should not exceed $50,000.00.

The Council approved a City Ordinance allocating 50% of the 1% sales tax presently in place for the past year to be used by the Healthcare Authority of Haleyville And Winston County for the issuance of a Limited Obligation Bond for $3,000,000.00. This sales tax money will be used as security for the payment of the principal and interest on the bond. The bond money will be for the purpose of providing funds for the support and operation of the hospital facility and entities engaged from time to time by the Healthcare Authority in the operation, support and maintenance of the facility.

In other business, the Council approved buying a field and brush mower for the Park and Rec Department in the amount of $2,399.99. Richard Bittinger was appointed to the Water Board and Megan Lovett was appointed to the Assistant City Clerk/Revenue Clerk with a pay adjustment. She will handle the business licenses and occupational taxes. Dr. Reddy was appointed to the Healthcare Authority.
