Hackleburg Woman Killed in Crash

HAMILTON POST – A multi-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, has claimed the life of a Hackleburg woman and injured one other individual. Kristi C. King, 50, was fatally injured when the 2014 Jeep Wrangler she was driving collided head-on with a 2025 Kia Soul driven by Amanda W. Thomas, 43, of Phil Campbell. Prior to the initial impact, the Soul was struck by a 2012 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 19-year-old. King, who was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Amanda W. Thomas, the driver of the Soul, was injured and was transported to Russellville Hospital for medical treatment.

The crash occurred on U.S.43 near the 287 mile marker, approximately four miles south of Hackleburg, in Marion County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
