ILTON POST – A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, has claimed the life of a Hartselle man. Chad W. Smith, 51, was fatally injured when the 2003 GMC Silverado he was driving left the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned. Smith was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and was pronounced deceased at the scene.The crash occurred on Winston County 55, approximately five miles northwest of Double Springs, in Winston County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
