• All Three Inmates Recaptured!

    All three escaped inmates from the Marion County Jail in Hamilton have been recaptured. The first to be recaptured was Leslie Dewayne Cameron. Cameron was apprehended by ALEA State Troopers at the Craft Community Center on Thorn Hill Road, just off Highway 129. The other two, Thomas Green and Christoper Spain were apprehended by Marion County Deputies on Hill Street in Hamilton.

    All three of the inmates that escaped this morning from the Marion County Jail, have been recaptured and are all incarcerated in the Marion County Jail. Leslie Cameron was apprehended at intersection of State Hwy 129 and County Road 19 at 9:03 AM.Christopher Spain and Thomas Green were apprehended at a residence on Steele Street in Hamilton at 9:51 AM.All three inmates were back in custody of the Marion County Jail at 10:10 AM.I would like to extend my gratitude to all the law enforcement agencies that assisted my department in the search for these inmates. I commend the K-9s and their handlers from the Alabama Department of Corrections and appreciate their efforts in apprehending these inmates today. Also, I am very appreciative for all the phone calls and tips from the local citizens, that acted as additional eyes in today’s search. All three inmates received the following additional charges, when booked back into the Marion County Jail: Robbery 1st, Kidnapping 1st, Theft of Property 3rd, Assault 1st, Escape 1st, Theft of Property 4th, and Breaking and Entering a Vehicle Attached is the news release and video footage of the attack on the correctional officer.

  • Convicts Escape From Marion County Jail

    At approximately 2:00 AM, 3 inmates overpowered a correctional officer and escaped from the Marion County Jail. Please be on the lookout for Thomas Joe Green, Leslie Dewayne Cameron, and Christopher Cole Spain. Thomas Joe Green is 6 foot tall and weighs 170 pounds. Green has hazel eyes and brown hair. Leslie Dewayne Cameron is 5 foot and 11 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds. Cameron has green eyes and brown hair. Christopher Cole Spain is 5 foot and 10 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds. Spain has hazel eyes and brown hair.

    Thomas Green is incarcerated on the following charges: Rape 1st and Escape 2nd. Green has ties in Colbert County, AL, and Joiner, AR.

    Leslie Cameron is incarcerated on the following charges: Attempting to Elude, and False Identity to Obstruct Justice. Cameron has ties in Franklin County, AL.

    Christopher Spain is incarcerated on the following charges: Theft of Property 1st, Criminal Mischief 1st, Break and Enter a Vehicle, and Theft of Property 2nd. Spain has ties in Nauvoo and Jasper in Walker County, AL.

    The direction of travel is unknown at this time.

  • HHS Cheerleaders Selling “Lion Paws”

    Starting at 5 a.m. till dark on Tuesday for the HHS cheerleaders repaint and prepare the HHS Lion Paws on 20th Street approaching the school for this year’s fundraiser. The prep work has been going on for days. It’s a big job, but worth it to the cheerleaders who will use the money to buy supplies for the weekly banners seen at the pep rallies and football games.
