Haleyville Mayor Ken Sunseri stated at 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon the legal paperwork was just being completed in order for the Haleyville/Winston County Hospital Board to take ownership of the Lakeland Community Hospital on April 1. The hospital will be managed by the Java Medical group.

Mayor Ken Sunseri stated all the legal paperwork should be completed today on the on the transfer of ownership of the Lakeland Hospital from Curae to the Haleyville/Winston County Hospital Board. It has been a long drawn out process with last-minute problems created by Curae, but it should be completed by the end of business today. Tomorrow, March 31 is the last day of the 3-month extension for the announced closure.
