• Man Shot in Hamilton

    HAMILTON-On March 15, 2018, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Hamilton Police Department attempted to serve an involuntary commitment order at a residence located in the 200 block of Robin Road, Hamilton, Alabama. At some point after the officers arrived at the residence, the subject they were attempting to locate approached them while armed with a knife.  A brief altercation occurred and one of the deputies discharged his firearm causing nonfatal injuries to the subject, who was transported to the North Mississippi Medical Center-Hamilton by ambulance.  Physicians at the North Mississippi Medical Center-Hamilton determined he needed more advanced medical care and had the subject airlifted to the North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo.  The subject’s condition is not known at this time.  At the request of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the State Bureau of Investigation responded to the residence and their Agents are currently investigating the incident.  As the incident is currently under investigation, no other information is available at this time.

  • Storage Shed Fire

    HALEYVILLE-A fire of unknown origin destroyed a storage shed behind the home of Jason Godsey on 30th Street. When the fire was detected at approximately 5:30 Friday, it was spreading to an adjacent storage building dry leaves was taking the fire toward the home of a neighbor. jason used a water hose until the Haleyville Fire Department arrived. Firemen were on the scene for approximately an hour making sure it was completely out. Jason stated he hated losing his zero turn lawn mower and his tools, but glad the fire was contained to just the one building.
