Thursday, February 1, Governor Kay Ivey appointed Jimmy Daryl Burt to fill the remainder of the term of retiring Judge John Bentley as Circuit Judge for Winston and Marion Counties. Burt has been a practicing attorney with the firm Atkinson, Atkinson, and Burt, LLC in Winfield. Circuit Judge Lee Carter stated that Burt is presently suffering from the flu and will be sworn in as soon as possible.

Wednesday, The Haleyville Lady Lions Basketball team defeated Carbon Hill 59-47.The HHS Varsity boys won their game against Carbon Hill 57-40. Senior night is Thursday at the last scheduled home games against Wilson.
