Unpassable Roads!
All Winston County and Haleyville and Bear Creek City roads were officially declared unpassable at 6:30 p.m. last night. This means if you have an accident on a road declared unpassable, your insurance may not pay. This does not include state highways, just city and county roads. Please do not drive on the unpassable roads until the danger passes.

HHS Football Banquet This Thursday
The Haleyville Lions Club will be hosting the annual Haleyville Lions Football Banquet this coming Thursday, January 18 at 6:00 pm. It will be held at the First United Methodist Church at the Slaughter Fellowship Hall. Former Auburn player and three-time NFL Pro Bowler Joe Cribbs will be the keynote speaker for the night. Tickets to the event will be $10 each with steak or smoked chicken as the choice. The event will be catered by R/R Rising Smoke. Phillips Elementary is now accepting applications for pre-registration for Pre-K. Students must be 4 on September 1, 2018. Use the following link and choose Marion County and Phillips Elementary.

Garbage Pickup
The Haleyville Sanitation Department will be closed on Monday, January 15, due to the Martin Luther King holiday. Monday garbage pickup will be on Tuesday, January, 16.

Schools Closing For Weather
Haleyville City Schools, Franklin County Schools, Russellville City Schools, Haleyville Head Start/Pre K, and the Northwest-Shoals Community College (NW-SCC) will be closed today, Friday, January 12, due to the threat of inclement weather.

HHS Basketball
The Haleyville High Lady Lions defeated Hamilton Tuesday night 58-30. The Varsity Boys were defeated is a super close game 59-62 in the last 1.6 seconds of the game. HHS will play Winfield in home games this Friday starting at 4:30 p.m. with a Junior Varsity Boys game followed by Varsity Girls then Varsity Boys games. You can hear the two varsity games on Paradise 92.7 with Craig Wakefield and David Albright.

Three Vehicle Crash
A three-car crash early Wednesday morning left two people complaining of neck pain, but otherwise, there were no serious injuries. All three vehicles had to be removed from the scene by wreckers. The crash occurred at in the fog at 5:45 a.m. on Highway 13 North at County Highway 85. Reportedly a ticket was issued to a Hispanic male who had no drivers license nor insurance.

Haleyville Native Killed in Shooting
The Sheffield Police have charged a Florence man with the shooting death of 26-year Chad Edwin Gardner a Haleyville native, who was currently living in the Shoals area. According to the Sheffield Police, the shooting early Sunday afternoon was believed to be the result of a domestic dispute which happened in the 1900 block of East 17th Street in Sheffield before 2:30 p.m. Gardner had reportedly gone to the residence to pick up his children from his ex-wife. A confrontation with the ex-wife’s current boyfriend resulted in the shooting. Chance Brodie Thompson, 35, Florence, has been arrested and charged with the shooting.

Haleyville High Defeats Fayette
Friday night, January 5, the Haleyville High Lady Lions Basketball team defeated the Fayette Lady Tigers 82-31. In a very close game, the Varsity Boys defeated Fayette 51-48. Haleyville’s next basketball game is against Hamilton at home this Tuesday starting at 4 p.m. with a Junior Varsity Girls, followed by JV Boys, Varsity Girls, and the Varsity Boys. The Varsity Girls and Boys games will be broadcast live Tuesday on Paradise 92.7 with your play-by-play announcers Craig Wakefield and David Albright.
