A Haleyville police officer on patrol reported an abandoned house fire on Beech Grove Road around 11 p.m. on Wednesday night. Even though Haleyville firemen responded quickly, the house was a complete loss. The cause of the fire is unknown, but because it was an abandoned house, the fire appeared to have been set intentionally. A rain shower shortly before the discovery kept the fire from spreading into the wooded area around the house.
