The City of Haleyville Street and Sanitation will be closed Monday, October 10 for Columbus Day. Monday’s route will be picked up along with Tuesday’s route on Tuesday, October 11.

Marion County Solid Waste will pick up Friday, October 7 for Monday.

This is homecoming week at Haleyville High School. Friday night, the Lions will play against Good Hope. Kickoff is 7 p.m. The Homecoming Parade will be at 1:30 starting and ending at the school with a pep rally to follow in the gym. Because of the homecoming festivities at halftime, the HHS band will perform a pre-game show at 6:40 p.m., with the introduction of the homecoming queen candidates to follow before the game. The Haleyville Area Chamber of Commerce will meet this Friday at 12 noon at the Galley Restaurant. The program this month will be a forum for the two candidates for District Attorney, Jack Bostick, and Scott Slatton. The Chamber program on Friday, November 4 will be Roger Hayes with a state of the county presentation. The program from Friday, December 2, will be Senator Greg Reed.

The runoff election in Bear Creek this week affirmed the mayoral’s seat was retained by Connie Morrison. the vote was 143 for Morrison and 73 for Don Vickery, thus Connie Morrison will remain mayor of Bear Creek for four more years.
