Six young people were injured in a single vehicle crash Tuesday morning just after 4 a.m. on Highway 129 approximately one mile south of Grace Baptist Church. One male and 4 females were transported by ambulance to ECM and Lakeland emergency rooms with none life-threatening injuries. One girl was airlifted to UAB in Birmingham. One girl refused medical attention and stayed at the scene. Reportedly the group had been to Wal-Mart in Haleyville to purchase cigarettes and was traveling south on Highway 129 when the red dual-cab pickup left the highway and went down an embankment on the south side of the road. Haleyville police responded and found the six inside the truck which had caught on fire. They were quickly extracted. The Haleyville Fire Department responded and extinguished the flames.
