The City Council took two important steps Monday night for the road to recovery.

The Zoning Ordinances were amended to allow for temporary housing. This will allow those displaced by the tornado to place temporary housing, such as units provided by FEMA, on their property for a limited time. Those desiring to do so must be registered with FEMA and must apply to Zoning Board of Adjustments for permission. Requirements and limitation are available at City Hall. The Council also green-lighted the process for debris removal from private property. This is a FEMA program to be executed by the Army Corps of Engineers. Property owners registered with FEMA may be eligible for this debris removal program. More information should be available later this week, or property owners may contact FEMA.

In other action, the Council approved April General Operation Bills of $386,949.81 and hired temporary personnel to assist with relief efforts.

The Council will meet again on Monday, June 6, 7 PM.
