Kindergarten Registration

Haleyville City Schools will hold kindergarten registration on Thursday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Registration will be held at the Haleyville Elementary School library.
A child being registered for kindergarten must be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2010, before he/she can attend school for the 2010-2011 school year. Due to current Board of Education policy, only students currently living in Winston County and/or within the city limits of Haleyville or on a current bus route will be allowed to register.
Parents or guardians registering prospective kindergarten students will be required to bring the following:
- The child’s birth certificate
- Blue immunization certificate showing that the child has had all of the required immunizations: D.P.T., polio, measles, and mumps. Alabama law requires proof of immunizations before a child can enter kindergarten or 1st grade
- Social Security Card
- Proof of residency
A team of Kindergarten teachers will be administering the HES Kindergarten Screener to all children who will attend kindergarten in the fall of 2010. Thus, it will be necessary for parents/guardians to bring their pre-school children with them to registration the school can administer this short screening instrument, planed to be a fun experience for the children. Parents/guardians can help by planning to make this a special outing for the pre-schooler.
In an effort to avoid over-crowded conditions and give each child individual attention, the following schedule will be utilized:

A-L 8:30-11:30
M-Z 12:00-2:30
Schedules can be adjusted to accommodate working parents. It is important that all parents or guardians register eligible children on March 25.
