The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Special Weather Statement for Winston County, warning of freezing rain for Wednesday morning. A light ice glaze is possible before the freezing precipitation switches completely to rain. Drivers are urged to use caution, especially on elevated surfaces.
Also, the NWS office in Huntsville has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for areas North and East of Winston from 6 AM until 6 PM Wednesday. Commuters to these areas should use extreme caution as snow, sleet and ice are forecast. Accumulations are forecast to be under one-half inch, snow and sleet, and up to one-tenth inch of ice.
