A theft of property at four cabins on Smith Lake was reported to the Winston County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) on Thursday, April 7. Less that one week later three men were incarcerated in the Winston County Jail in connection with the thief.
Charged with receiving stolen property was Russell Loyd Keeton, 40, Nauvoo. Michael Brandon Owens, 28, Nauvoo was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Jamie Lee Fuller, 28, Lynn was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.
The four cabins were all owned by the same person and were in a gated area. The gate was apparently pulled down with a vehicle and glass windows broken to gain entrance into the cabins. The alleged thieves stole many items including antique tools and other collectables, TV's and even a real stuffed bear.
While most of the stolen items have been recovered, he case is still under investigation and there may be more arrests. Work on the case has been done by WCSo Investigators Josh Silas and Brad Curtis and Deputies Levi Brown, Jordan Lee, Jacob Taylor, Les Abbott and the Walker County Sheriff's Office.
