Six Arrested in Haleyville Drug Bust

A drug bust in Haleyville last week put 6 in jail, one of them, Jamie Lee Edwards, was a basketball coach and teacher at Meek High School. Each were charged with second-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance, first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Arrested were Edwards, 40, Michael Eric Wolfgang, 31, Marlon Dale Pipkins, 60, Ashley Dewayne Pipkins, 38, Christopher Adam Hicks, 26, and Denis Lee Baker, 57. 

Each had a bond set at $1million. 

In a statement to AL.com, Winston County Superintendent Greg Pendley stated: "The Winston County Board along with myself hold all employees to a high standard as their responsibility is with the most prescious resource to our county: our students. Any situation that may jeopardize our education environment will always be dealt with in a timely manner in order to maintain that environment."

Edwards, who had been employed at the Meek school since 2001, resigned on October 7.
