Excavation started Thursday north of Highway 13 at 8th Avenue. The project calls for installation of rip rap in an open drainage area to slow storm water coming from the new culvert which will be built under Highway 13 from the south side next to the old Hardee's. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has allocated $1.2 million for the project which should end a highway flooding problem which has plagued that location for over 30 years.
