This year is the 50th anniversary of the founding of Guthrie's Golden Fried Chicken Fingers in Haleyville. To celebrate, the Guthrie family invite you to Guthrie's downtown for a huge birthday party Friday, July 31st.
A special ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. with guests Governor Robert Bentley, congressman Robert Aderholt and Mayor Ken Sunseri. Internationally known Gospel music singer and recording artist Karen Wheaton will be on hand to sing Happy Birthday.
Starting at 10 a.m., you can enjoy a plate or box of Guthrie's with a large drink and extra sauce for just $5, tax included. Keep your receipt, because at 3 p.m., there will be a drawing for $1,000 cash. If you purchase a meal between 3 and 9 p.m., you will be eligible for a second drawing for an additional $1,000. You must be present at 3 and 9 in order to win.
There will also be awesome water slides and a calk walk plus a chance to win free food for a year. In one of the boxes sold on Friday, there will be a certificate for free food for a year for one person. Invite your family and friends and bring your lawn chairs, it is going to be a super fun birthday party celebrating Guthrie's 50th anniversity.
Guthrie's, a southern tradition, with stores across the Southeast, began right here in Haleyville 50 years ago.
