The Drug Enforcement Agency was in Jasper Friday morning for Dr. Muhammad Wasim Ali, who was arrested and suspected of distributing/dispensing oxycodone for other than a legitimate medical purpose.
Multiple times last year, the DEA says Ali prescribed oxycodone to an undercover agent at Walker Rural Health Services/Jasper Neurological Care, of which he owns solely.
In 2014, Ali wrote over 12,000 prescriptions for Schedule II narcotics, which includes 4,047 prescriptions for oxycodone.
The undercover investigation started in July 2014 with illegal prescriptions happening a month apart from August to November, according to the criminal complaint.
No word on Ali's initial court appearance. See complete story click HERE.
