The Haleyville Roaring Lion Band will make back to back appearances in the Inauguration parade welcoming Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley to office on Jan. 19.

For the second straight time, the band will march in the governor’s inauguration parade in the streets of Montgomery after the Roaring Lion Band was nominated by State Senator Paul Bussman.

During the parade, the band will march in the streets surrounding the Alabama State Capitol building and pass the Governors reviewing stand.

Haleyville City School students will not attend school on January 19 due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday but the band is working.

The band is excited to have been chosen for the honor of participating in the parade and the honor of representing Haleyville and Winston County while showing off the new uniforms.  In the parade, the band will be playing the “Washington Lee Swing”, the HHS fight song.  The band practiced Thursday and Friday and departed Monday morning at  at 5:30 a.m. and will return Monday evening.

The Inauguration ceremonies and parade can be seen on Alabama Public Television beginning at 9 a.m. with the parade beginning at 11 a.m.
