Lions Fall to the Aggies

The Haleyville Lions traveled to Hamilton for another big regional matchup with the Aggies. Unfortunately, the Lions came up short in this game. Here’s a look at the scoring drives.

The first score of the evening came from a 22 yard field goal for Haleyville by Antonio Reyes to take the Lions up 3-0 with 7:33 remaining in the opening quarter. Hamilton’s Logan Rogers then followed up with a 13 yard run for the first touchdown of the game, and Cruz completed the extra point to take the Aggies up 7-3. With 49 seconds remaining in the first quarter, Denzell Mitchell reached the endzone on a 1 yard run, and Cruz completed the extra point to extend the Aggies’ lead 14-3.

In the second quarter, the Hamilton streak continued with another Mitchell touchdown run for 47 yards, and Cruz again completed the extra point attempt. The Aggies led the Lions 21-3 with 7:33 remaining in the first half. Next, Dillon Posey scored for the Lions on a 5 yard reception, and Reyes secured the extra point. The Lions trailed the Aggies 21-10 at the half.

The first score of the second half came on a Tra Lark 14 yard reception from Logan Rogers. Cruz added the extra point, and the Aggies led 28-10. The final score of the third quarter came from another 41 yard run by Mitchell. The Lions trailed 35-10 at the end of the third.

The first scoring drive in the final quarter of play came from a 27 yard pass from Kiser to Posey, and the kick was no good. The Lions trailed 35-16. With 4:34 remaining in the game, Blake Stidham added 6 for the Aggies, and Cruz contributed the extra point. The final score of the game came on a 59 yard pass from Kiser to Posey, and two points were added on the Kiser to Jordan pass. The final score was Hamilton 42 Haleyville 24.
