Bear Creek Police Chief Shane Whitten has released information about yet another scam in the area. Bear Creek residents are receiving letters in the mail stating they have won a random lottery in the United Kingdom. The letter asks you to contact them before cashing the check attached to claim your prize and includes your name and address. Although it includes your contact information, no damage has been done to your bank account or other personal information.
Chief Whitten reminds you that if it seems too good to be true, it usually is. Below is a copy of the letter and the check that are enclosed. If you cash this check, remember that you can have criminal charges filed against you!
