The annual Back to School Sales Tax Holiday has been announced for the State of Alabama.  It will take place August 1-3, 2014, and most area schools will start back August 7, 2014.

As the new year approaches, most Alabamians will need to purchase school supplies, and this tax holiday will provide a little relief to the pocketbook. Items such as school supplies (books, pencils, paper, etc.), computers, and clothing will be free of state sales and use tax, however, city taxes may still apply in some cities.  (Haleyville will not apply city taxes to the included items.)  Items such as sports equipment, eyeglasses, and hair accessories will not be included in the tax free sale.
