The Haleyville High Lady Lions Softball team took the first game against Pope John Paul II 15-0 in 3 innings in their first game in Huntsville Friday morning. Friday afternoon, the Lions defeated Central 8-2. They will face Wilson Saturday at 8 a.m. The game will be broadcast on Paradise 92.7 with David Albright and Samantha Poe.
The HHS Lions baseball team was defeated twice on Friday by Ardmore in state semi-final play at Haleyville. The first game was lost to Ardmore 5-1 primarily because of pitcher Cody Reed. Reed has a scholarship to Vandy and is being scouted by Major League Baseball teams. He struck out 18 in the first game.
The second game was tied 3-3 at the end of 7 and ended two innings later 4-3 which eliminated Haleyville from the state playoffs.
