The Haleyville Lions Varsity Baseball Team captured big wins in the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Baseball Playoffs Friday evening.  The Lions swept the Wildcats of Central High School with 8-6 and 11-0 victories to move on to the second round of playoffs this week.  Haleyville will face the Brooks Lions at Brooks Friday evening.  The game will be played at 4:30 p.m. with game two beginning thirty minutes after the first game ends. If needed, the third game will be played at noon Saturday.

The Lady Lions had a much tougher weekend in the West Alabama Conference Tournament.  The Lady Lions were sent packing after back to back losses to Gordo and Vernon. However, the Lady Lions defeated the Hamilton Aggies Monday evening. They will face Carbon Hill at home Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
