The Haleyville City Council met for its regular meeting Monday. The Council approved the hiring of Marcum Architects, LLC, of Tuscaloosa, at a cost of $3,500, to look at renovations to City Hall. It also approved the sale of surplus softball equipment to Dixie Sports.
The City wants Marcum to examine ways of renovating the old jail space. Mayor Ken Sunseri wants the architects to look at expanding the communications area, adding another booking room, adding an interrogation room, and adding additional storage.
Surplus softball equipment from Parks & Recreation will be sold to Dixie Sports for $300.
Councilmember Drew Thrasher informed the Council that several firefighters and first responders from 5 area fire departments began classes Monday night. The course is part of Volunteer Fire Fighter 160, a firefighter certification course.
