The Alabama High School Athletic Association announced new alignments for athletic teams across the state, as well as a new Class 7A Classification. With this new classification, the guidelines for each classification changed slightly, and some schools across the state have changed classifications due to the changes.
Haleyville High School will remain in Class 4A and will be Region 5 for football. However, Hamilton will move from the 3A classification to 4A and will enter the same region as Haleyville. The new football region includes Carbon Hill, Cordova, Curry, Danville, Fayette County, Haleyville, and Hamilton. In other sports, Haleyville will be Class 4A Area 13, which includes Danville, Haleyville, and Hamilton.
Here are alignments for other area schools.
Phillips and Hackleburg:
Class 1A Region 8 (football): Decatur Heritage, Hackleburg, R.A. Hubbard, Phillips, Shoals Christian, Vina, and Waterloo
Area 15 (for all other sports): Belgreen, Covenant Christian, Hackleburg, Phillips, and VIna
Brilliant, Marion County, Lynn, and Meek:
Class 1A Region 6 (football): Berry, Brilliant, Hubbertville, Lynn, Marion County, Meek, Parrish, and South Lamar
Area 10 (for all other sports): Berry, Brilliant, Hubbertville, Marion County, and South Lamar
Area 11: Saint Bernard, Lynn, Meek, and Parrish
Winfield and Winston County:
Class 3A Region 5 (football): Hanceville, Holly Pond, Oakman, Susan Moore, Vinemont, Winfield, and Winston County
Area 9 (for all other sports): Oakman, Winfield, and Winston County
Addison:
Class 2A Region 6 (football): Addison, Cold Springs, Falkville, Southeastern, Sumiton Christian, Tanner, and Tarrant
Area 14 (for all other sports): Addison, Cold Springs, Falkville, and Tanner
Phil Campbell:
Class 2A Region 8 (football): Cherokee, Hatton, Mars Hill Bible, Phil Campbell, Red Bay, Sulligent, and Tharptown
Area 15 (for all other sports): Phil Campbell, Red Bay, and Sulligent
