The National Weather Service issued this statement:
DAMAGING WINDS ALONG A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS...AND POSSIBLY A FEW TORNADOES...ARE EXPECTED ACROSS PORTIONS OF CENTRAL ALABAMA. THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT WILL START AS EARLY AS 9 PM ACROSS EXTREME WESTERN ALABAMA. ALL OF CENTRAL ALABAMA MAY SEE SEVERE WEATHER WITH DAMAGING WINDS THE MAIN THREAT...ALTHOUGH ISOLATED TORNADOES CAN NOT BE RULED OUT ANYWHERE. THE BEST CHANCE FOR TORNADOES WILL BE GENERALLY NORTH AND WEST OF A DEMOPOLIS...TO TUSCALOOSA...TO JASPER LINE. THE RISK WILL END FROM WEST TO EAST DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. PLEASE BE WEATHER AWARE AS A SIGNIFICANT PART OF THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT WILL COME OVERNIGHT WHILE PEOPLE ARE ASLEEP.
