The Haleyville Lions faced West Limestone in the final region game of the season Friday night. The Lions went down quickly in the first quarter and trailed 21-7 at halftime. The only Lions' score in the first half came from Heath Self on a 6 yard run in the first quarter. However, the Lions' defense dominated the second half, and teamwork prevailed to set the Lions up for a win. In the third quarter, Haleyville scored on two Kiser passes to Heath Self for a 90 yard touchdown and a 4 yard touchdown. Those scoring drives tied the score at 21. With 25 seconds left on the clock, QB Conner Kiser handed off to Heath Self who then passed to Dillon Posey near the endzone for the touchdown to give the Lions a 28-21 lead. The Wildcats then scored a quick touchdown to bring the score to 28-27 with only 4 seconds remaining in the game. The Lions stood tall on the goal line and prevented the Wildcats from completing the 2 point conversion to seal the Lion Victory. The photos above are from the failed Wildcat attempt on the 2 point conversion.
Congratulations to the Haleyville Lions on a hard-fought victory!
