The Town of Bear Creek was recently approved for a grant for approximately $44,000. This grant will be used to purchase and install two new outdoor weather sirens for the town. The first siren will be installed on County Highway 79, north of the Bear Creek Lake. This siren is expected to give greater coverage of the lake, campground, and northern end of the town toward the Franklin County Line. The other siren will be installed in the Lumbull Community, just off County Highway 106. This siren will extend coverage toward the southwest portion of Bear Creek, including State Highway 241. Mayor Connie Morrison stated these outdoor sirens, in addition to the current one, will provide coverage for the entire town and should provide advanced tornado warnings for the citizens. The grant and bids have been approved by all parties involved, and construction is expected to begin soon.
