Ashley Sutherland was arrested by the Franklin County Sheriff's Department after two indictments from the grand jury for allowing a fire to escape and arson in the third degree. The indictments were passed down after a March 28th fire on Broad Street in Phil Campbell. Sutherland allegedly started a fire of household trash at 2165 Broad Street, and the fire escaped and jumped the driveway into the neighbor's salvage yard. The fire then consumed twenty one vehicles and melted siding from the structure. The Phil Campbell Fire Department responded to the scene, both intially and after a rekindle. The fire was investigated by the Alabama Fire Marshall's Office, and the evidence was presented to the grand jury in May. Sutherland is currently awaiting her court appearance and sentencing at this time. Disclaimer: All suspects are assumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. |
