The Haleyville City Council met Tuesday evening for the regularly scheduled Haleyville City Council Meeting, and all members were present. The council approved meeting minutes from 8/19/13 and work session minutes from 8/27/13. The council then went into a short executive session to discuss the good name and character of an individual.

When the meeting resumed, the council voted on a wage adjustment for the Street and Sanitation Department, but the action failed when Richard Bittinger, Mayor Ken Sunseri, Drew Thrasher, and Royce Benefield voted no. The following items were approved unanimously.

-Cost of living wage increase for all city employees (5% increase from current pay), effective the first day of the first pay period in October

-City will absorb the 5% increase on insurance wages for city employees

-Advertisement for a part time school crossing guard

-Demolition ordinance (Read more about this ordinance on the full story above.)

-Purchase of tractor and sidehog for the Street and Sanitation Department

The next Haleyville City Council Meeting will be held Monday, September 16, 2013 at 5:30 p.m.
