The Haleyville City Council met Monday evening, and all members were present. The following items were approved unanimously.
-regular council minutes from 8/5/13
-work session minutes from 8/12/13
-July operational bills in the amount of $345,607.77
-full time employment of airport attendant and city judge (transfer from contract workers)
-renewal of line of credit not to exceed $290,500
-hospital agreement for drug screenings after hours in case of accidents
-amendment to personnel rules regarding carrying of firearms on city property
-purchase of property on 9th Avenue from Betty Randolph for sports complex
-change of next council meeting to Tuesday 9/3/13 due to Labor Day Holiday
Jim Eichelberger from Action Properties also announced Goody's, Hibbett Sports, and Dollar Tree will be moving into the old Walmart building and will be open by November 1. A fourth business will also be moving there, but the final contract is not available for release at this time.
Two issues regarding pay adjustments and equipment purchase for the Street and Sanitation Department were tabled until the next meeting.
