Drainage Improvements on Highway 13

The project now underway is to replace old steel drainage pipe from – open ditch north of Traditions Florist to 21st Street at KFC – with new larger concrete pipe. Some of the old pipe which will not be removed will be grouted closed. The new system will be able to handle more flow as well as store some water during heavy rainfall. The project has started at the north end with 96” x 48” box culverts and will end at KFC with 48” concrete pipe. All disturbed areas will be repaved. All business will remain open during the project. The contractor is to provide access. The city ask everyone be patient and continue to use these business. The Project is being constructed by Tri County Construction from Hamilton. Construction cost is estimated to be $1,200,000. The project is funded by a FEMA Grant of $1,000,000. The rest is to be paid by the City. The project is scheduled for completion in January 2014. Charles Frazier is the on site inspector for the Cassady Company, which is overseeing the project.
