The Haleyville High School Cheerleaders competed in the Large Varsity Division at the University of Alabama Cheer Camp on June 1, 2013. There were approximately 1,500 cheerleaders in attendance, as this is one of the largest cheer camps in the nation. The girls earned second place in the Home Pom Routine and fourth place in the Extreme Routine and Cheer.
Selena Benefield, senior, and Sara-Ashton Lowe, junior, were selected as All-Americans. This is Benefield's third All-American honor and Lowe's second. They will have the opportunity to perform in London on New Year's Day. Benefield was also chosen from camp to have the privilege of trying out for UCA staff.
Sponsor Wendy Rushing stated, "I am very proud of the girls and their hard work and dedication! We plan to compete in the state competition as well as the regionals later in the year."
Congratulations to all of the HHS Cheerleaders for their accomplishments!
