The Bear Creek City Council unexpectedly lost a city council member last week. Larry McGee had served on the council from 2004-2008 and was sworn in for another term in November 2012. The Bear Creek City Council will meet for the first time since McGee's death Monday night at 6:00 p.m.
The process for replacing McGee on the council is as follows. The Bear Creek City Council will declare the vacant seat. A nomination will be made for the new member, and the council must vote to either approve the nomination or to look for another candidate. The Bear Creek City Council is expected to declare the vacant seat at Monday's meeting, but it is undetermined at this time if the council is prepared to make a nomination for the seat during the meeting.
