Lions greet Ben Richards at home plate after his home run at East Lawrence. |
The Haleyville Lions baseball team faced East Lawrence in the last area game of the season last week. The Lions entered the series tied with Priceville for second place in the area. In order for the Lions to advance to the state playoffs, HHS had to defeat East Lawrence, and Brooks had to defeat Priceville in the first two games of their series. The Lions swept East Lawrence in hopes of advancing, but Brooks fell to Priceville in game 2 of their series. This loss prevents the HHS Lions from advancing to post season play. The Lions will close out their season Monday evening at 4:30 at home against Phil Campbell. This game will also serve as senior night for the three seniors on the team.
