BOE Accepts Satcher's Resignation

The Haleyville City Board of Education met Tuesday night.  The highlight of the meeting was the retirements and resignation of several faculty members, including Roger Satcher who currently serves as the principal at Haleyville High School.  Satcher's resignation will be effective July 23, 2013.  The board announced the retirements of Ronnie Barton, Debby Hallman, and Jean Pruitt effective June 1, 2013.  Linda Warren will retire effective May 31, 2013.  Next, Jason Cooper was approved as an assistant coach for the softball team, effective February 22, 2013.  The board also recognized Barry Burleson for his first regular session meeting as a Board of Education member.

The board opened the meeting by approving the agenda for the night, as well as minutes from the February 26 and March 12 meetings.  Next, the board approved expenditures for February 2013 in the amount of $1,333,990.25.  They also approved the final compensation to the estate of Roy Jones.  Then, the board approved a variety of items including the spring sport schedules, substitute teachers list, and twelve fundraisers.  The board approved use of the HES Cafeteria to KidSports Gymnastics for Mini-Olympics on May 18, 2013 and the use of all school facilities to the City of Haleyville for March 22-31, 2013.  The next item on the agenda was the approval of the curriculum and course catalog for Haleyville Middle School and the curriculum and registration guide for Haleyville High School for the 2013-2014 school year.  They also approved the Code of Conduct for the Haleyville City Board of Education.

Finally, the board voted to approve a Field Trip Request for auto tech students and Mike Batchelor to attend Ford AAA State Finals in Birmingham, AL on April 16-17, 2013.  They also approved travel for Jason Cooper, Kelly Rushing, and Whitney Webb to attend the Gulf Shores Softball Tournament in Gulf Shores, AL March 25-28, 2013.  

The board approved entering into executive session to discuss the possibility of pending litigation. The meeting officially adjourned following the executive session at 9:02 p.m.
