There will be a Basic Skywarn Storm Spotters Class at the Bobby Bishop Community Center in Bear Creek Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. The class will be taught by John DeBlock from the National Weather Service of Birmingham. DeBlock stated, "The class will provide potential spotters with the training they will need to properly identify storm features, and identifies the means of communication to pass the information on to meteorologists that issue life-saving severe weather warnings. In addition, spotters are trained on what constitutes severe weather, and perhaps most importantly, how to stay safe from hazardous weather."

Our area is in desperate need of trained storm spotters to assist during times of severe weather. The class is open to the public and is available for people of all ages. For more information, please contact Rob Taylor or Andy Marbutt with the Bear Creek Fire Department.
